On October 10, a press briefing was held in Kyiv by the National School of Judges of Ukraine and the International Labour Organization (ILO), marking the completion of a certification course for trainers on the application of international labor standards in judicial practice.

The event marked the culmination of training for judges, judicial assistants, and court staff, and also outlined further steps in the implementation of international labor standards within the national judicial system.

Among the certified trainers on international labor standards was Olena Fonova, co-founder of the NGO METC “PRO JUSTICE” and judge of the Commercial Court of Luhansk Oblast, who shared her experience with briefing participants on the use of international labor standards in the adjudication of labor disputes. She also explained how the course outcomes can contribute to the unification of judicial practice in labor disputes.

This joint initiative by the National School of Judges of Ukraine, the ILO, and the ILO International Training Centre in Turin marked an important step toward establishing a national corps of judge-trainers who will disseminate knowledge of international labor law among their colleagues throughout Ukraine.

The course included practical examples of the application of international labor law in Ukrainian courts and combined online learning with training sessions in Turin, allowing participants to systematically master the material and prepare to share their knowledge with colleagues in regions across Ukraine.
