Within the framework of the All-Ukrainian educational project “Unbreakable Law Schools of Ukraine”, Olena Fonova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Pro Justice, took part as a guest lecturer in a binary lecture: “Justice under martial law in Ukraine: tips for clinicians”. Ms. Olena emphasized the importance of legal clinics for developing practical skills for future law students, such as drafting claims and other procedural appeals, and advising on specific legal issues. All of this helps students to have practical skills and be competitive young lawyers upon graduation. Ms. Olena’s speech touched upon many topics that are useful for law students who provide legal aid in legal clinics. In particular, they discussed the jurisdiction of cases transferred from courts that had stopped their work, the procedure for notifying the parties in the temporarily occupied territories, the peculiarities of the parties’ participation in court hearings via video conference, the renewal or extension of procedural deadlines due to martial law, the peculiarities of the limitation period in wartime, the peculiarities of regulating debt collection under loan agreements and bankruptcy procedures in connection with armed aggression. Olena also spoke on the topic of the Electronic Court and told the audience about the latest legislation in this area and useful life hacks that greatly simplify the work of lawyers and others.
