The Ukrainian Bar Association held a reception dedicated to the opening of the Year of Law 2024, which became a significant event for the legal community of Ukraine. The event was held at the Kyiv City History Museum and brought together leading lawyers, public figures and government officials who united for the development of the rule of law, justice and dignity in the profession.

Among the speeches made at the reception, special attention was drawn to the words of Roman Chumak, managing partner of ARES Law Firm and chairman of the NGO Justice, who urged lawyers not to lose faith in their work, even in such difficult times:

“I want to wish all of you not to despair of what you are doing, to understand the times you live in, and to realize that today our help is important not only on the legal front, but also on the front where our guys are fighting. We want each of you to ask yourself what you are doing to ensure that Ukraine survives this terrible war.”

MEC PRO Justice believes that such events are extremely important for uniting the legal community and supporting legal and democratic values in Ukraine. The organization supports the desire for transparency, accountability and strengthening of human rights in this difficult time for the country.
