🔹 On October 22, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy registered the committee version of draft law No. 11425-d, which provides for the abolition of the mandatory 75% score in cognitive testing. Now this passing score will be determined by the High Qualification Commission of Judges (HQCJ) independently.
🔹 In addition, future candidates will take exams only in those judicial specializations that they choose. This will greatly facilitate the process for candidates by reducing the workload during the exams.
🔹 Preliminary, the HQCJ plans to announce recruitment for 1,274 vacant positions of local court judges in December 2024. According to Deputy Head of the HQCJ Oleksii Omelian, the competition should be aimed at attracting up to 4 candidates for each vacancy.
🚩 However, there are challenges ahead: the general decline in the attractiveness of the judicial profession and the complexity of the selection procedure may reduce the number of applicants.
We urge lawyers to actively participate in the competitive selection and contribute to changes in the judicial system of Ukraine!
