On May 18, the law on mobilization will come into force. Clarification from Pro Justice member Judge Olena Fonova
At the end of winter 2024, the Hradusnyk podcast addressed the topic “What can the future law on mobilization change?” Then we had the bill in the first reading. Now the relevant law has been signed by the President of Ukraine, but in a slightly different form. Explanations by Olena Fonova, a permanent expert, judge/judge speaker of the Economic Court of Luhansk Oblast, which operates in Kharkiv, PhD in Law.
1. Was the Law really adopted too late?
2. Why do soldiers at the front feel abandoned, and their families come to the walls of the Verkhovna Rada with posters “Defenders are not slaves”?
3. What are the main changes envisaged by this Law for different categories of Ukrainian citizens? What changes for persons liable for military service?
4. What restrictions are envisaged for persons liable for military service and will they apply to those citizens of Ukraine who are abroad for various reasons?
5. What are the penalties for violating the rules of military registration and mobilization? What amounts of fines will be considered for martial law?
